What is called Tawheed (Monotheism)? The First Pillar of Usool-e-Deen in Shia Islam

First Usool-e-Deen or Usul-e-Deen of Shia Islam

Tawheed (Monotheism): The First basic pillar of the Usool-e-Deen is Tawheed or Tawhid in Shia Islam. That is, believing in Allah alone; our basic belief is that we believe in Allah alone in His essence and attributes. Allah has said in Surah Ikhlas:

“O Prophet, say that Allah is One, Allah is Independent, Allah is not begotten, nor is begotten, nor is there any equal to Him.”

Therefore, we believe that Allah is one. If a person does not believe in one Allah or believes in more than one god, then such a person has nothing to do with Islam. That person is outside the scope of Islam. Therefore, Belief in One (1) Allah is obligatory upon every Muslim, called Tawheed (Monotheism).
